Our Initiatives to Help Achieve the SDGs

Showa Giken Industrial supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) advocated by the United Nations, and we are contributing toward the realization of a sustainable society.

Our Initiatives to Help Achieve the SDGs

We are working together with our partners to provide products and services that are vital for our customers and for society as a whole.

Products

・As a leading manufacturer of fluid couplings, we are constantly striving to realize technological improvement, developing the products that our customers need.
・Around 60 – 70% of our output comprises made-to-order products that are specially designed to meet customers’ requirements, and so we are experts at providing products that customers will be fully satisfied with.
・We are able to generate synergy through close collaboration between our production division, with its strong technology capabilities, and our sales division, with its focus on customer needs.
・We work closely with our business partners on product development and customer support, which enables us to meet customers’ expectations more effectively.

By implementing strategies in response to climate change and to help realize a resource-circulating society, we are contributing towards safeguarding a sustainable environment.

Environment

・We have installed photovoltaic (PV) electricity generating equipment, which we are using to produce renewable energy.
・We have implemented measures which include installing charging stations for electric vehicles at our business sites, tree-planting to greenify parking areas, and reducing the size of the company’s vehicle fleet.
・We are contributing toward reducing CO² emissions through measures that include switching over to the use of eco-friendly vehicles.
・We are undertaking environmentally-friendly corporate activities focused on the topics of: (1) Promoting environmentally-friendly product development; (2) Promoting resource conservation and energy-saving; (3) Promoting waste reduction and recycling; and (4) Promoting green procurement.

Besides emphasizing the cultivation of human talent, we are also working to create workplaces that are highly motivating for employees.

People

・We implement thorough internal education to ensure that our quality policy and environmental policy are disseminated throughout the organization.
・Besides internal study sessions, we also arrange for employees to receive external training.
・We encourage our employees to obtain relevant certifications, and we provide subsidies and allowances to help cover the cost of doing so.
・We are promoting efforts to reduce the amount of overtime worked, and striving to improve the working environment.
・We currently have one female manager, but we are working to increase the number of female managers in the future.
・ Our female workers are employed as regular employees, not as part-time workers, and there is no wage disparity between male and female employees in the same positions.
・We have put in place a reduced working hours system for employees with childcare or nursing care responsibilities, as well as a system enabling employees to take time off work to look after children who are unwell, a nursing care leave system, and a general childcare leave system; we are working to create a working environment in which our employees can balance their work responsibilities and family responsibilities.
